Course Overview

Course description

In this course, students will develop their academic listening, reading, and note-taking skills through study and discussion of lectures delivered in English. Emphasis will be placed on listening and understanding lectures delivered in English, understanding the structure of different lecture types (comparison/contrast and causal analysis), taking detailed notes for a lecture, asking and answering questions about the main points and details of a lecture, and writing multi-paragraph-long lecture summaries. Activities will include listening to lectures in class, taking structured notes, discussion, answering questions, and writing summaries. In addition, related reading and vocabulary will be assigned before each lecture.
